10. Rudder Rudder! 7/15/2005
We stayed in the pattern today and practiced touch and goes with crosswind. This was really frustrating. I was unlucky due to the wind sock being very temperamental. One minute we had a left quartering head wind, the next a right. So I kept getting confused with the crossing of ailerons and rudder. We did 9 landings in total, and I have to admit I needed help from Bruce on all of them....so no sense of self accomplishment today!
We also performed a slip to landing, which was kind of hair raising as we suddenly plummeted to eat up altitude on final.
Hopefully things will suddenly 'click' into place regarding these crosswind landings...
I am at 10.1 hours right now. Bruce is pressing me to go get my Class 3 Medical, cos he usually solos students around 12 -15 hours, tho to be honest, I can see this milestone coming at around 16-20 hours. This would be no big deal to me - after all, I am not in a race...
